There is something in it for nurses, doctors and patients. NNOC Ohio is actively seeking to enact safe RN staffing standards in the state of Ohio. There is currently no limit to the number of patients a nurse can care for in any state except California! The result is 98,000 deaths per year. Part of the reason that hospitals fail to staff safely is the way in which they are reimbursed. Patients are admitted to hospitals because they need nursing care- daily RN's see patients dying because of failures to staff safely and because they are denied care or have no access to care. We as nurses are the voice of our patients and we can be silent witness to this catastophe no longer. Currently, no candidate is discussing Guaranteed Healthcare but rather they are guaranteeing insurance companies revenue via mandates. More insurance is not the same as more care. Visit www.cheneycare.org and www.calnurses.org/nnoc/ohio for more information.

Universal health coverage is a wonderful idea and I guess there must be something in it for the nurses and doctors too.

Without it, "too many OB/GYN's aren't able to practice their love with women all across the country"
