CNN is reporting that indie rock outfit “Arcade Fire” will be holding a free concert in Nelsonville, Ohio to support Barack Obama. I’m assuming that this is an attempt to gain support from nearby Ohio University.

The celebrated indie rock group Arcade Fire will perform two concerts for Obama in Ohio on Sunday and Monday in advance of the state’s crucial primary contest, CNN has learned. They’re set to perform at an Obama rally on Sunday in Nelsonville, southeast of Columbus, and again on Monday in Cleveland.

For details about the two concerts, read this post at an “Arcade Fire” fan site.

    David,

They’re going to be performing at Stuart’s Opera House in Nelsonvile, OH. It is a FANTASTIC venue. One of the best small venues in our region. Even though we live at the diagonal opposite end of Ohio, we still make the trip down there to support Tim Peacock and his crew whenever we can. GREAT music, LOW prices, wonderful atmosphere. We’ve gone there to see performers such as Karan Casey, Tim O’Brien, John Doyle and Liz Carroll, Richard Thompson, Steve Earle, Balfa Toujours and Del McCoury.

Upcoming shows include Richie Havens, The Cherryholmes Family and Rhonda Vincent and the Rage.

Check it out. I bet you’ll have a great time.

Thank heavens for small, independent not-for-profit venues, I’d be miserable without them!

I’m not ruling out going yet, but its not looking good. Nelsonville is about 2 1/2 hours away and I’ve never really listened to “Arcade Fire” (though I have heard of them before).
