Ohio Valley Politics provides Democratic political news and commentary for the entire state of Ohio but also features a particular focus on the area that makes up the 6th and 18th congressional districts.
Ohio Valley Politics was launched in October of 2007 as a replacement for my old blog, “Left of Ohio”. I had enjoyed keeping “Left of Ohio”, but around the time of its one year anniversary I started to feel limited by the platform it used. Simply put, I was spending almost as much time looking for ways to offer more content as I was on actually getting the content together and publishing it.
I soon decided a change was in order and began working on the site you are currently viewing. Having my own hosting allows me to offer multimedia files such as pictures, audio, and documents without having to rely on outside providers. This, when added to the highly extensible WordPress content management system, allows me to easily offer a wide range on content. The WordPress system also allows me to offer users several different ways of providing information. You can send me an email through the contact form, leave a comment without having to jump through hoops, or even submit a post to possibly appear on the blog.
As the 2008 election draws near I hope these tools will help us kick-start Southeastern Ohio’s online presence.
